SUBJECT: Approve appointments to the Children's Needs Task Force (CNTF) as
recommended by City Council liaisons Barbara Delgleize and Billy O'Connell
Statement of Issue
There are currently six (6) vacancies on the Children's Needs Task Force due to term expirations
and unscheduled resignations Currently there is a need to appoint one of the five adult
representative vacancies to the Children's Needs Task Force

Recommended Action
Accept the resignation of Ian Collins and approve the appointment of adult representative Dona
Cardona to fill the partial term of September 1, 2013, to August 31, 2017, as recommended by City
Council liaisons Barbara Delgleize and Billy O'Connell
Alternative Action(s)
Do not approve appointments for the Children's Needs Task Force and direct staff accordingly
Analysis
The Children's Needs Task force (CNTF) is seeking the appointment of a new member to serve a
partial term as vacated through resignation There is currently one adult applicant, Dona Cardona,
seeking appointment to the CNTF Ms Cardona has demonstrated a committed interest in the
welfare of children and the community through continued volunteer opportunities throughout the
City After review by Council liaisons Delgleize and O'Connell, Ms Cardona has been found
suitable for appointment to the CNTF A short biography is listed below
Dona Cardona has been a resident of Huntington Beach for 23 years Her children have attended
schools, been involved in youth sports, and organizations within the city, for which Ms Cardona has
supported through volunteerism on boards, as team mom and/or manager, and volunteered within
their respective schools She demonstrates thorough understanding of team work as required
through both her professional and volunteer experience Ms Cardona feels that her knowledge and
abilities, learned through many years of working with youths or children's organizations, will assist
her in helping the children of Huntington Beach through the Children's Needs Task Force
A Notice of Vacancy was appropriately posted to comply with the Maddy Act at City Hall, City
libraries, and on the City's website
