I believe those skills will make me an asset to the Envlronmental Board because i know how to tackle a problem and make a plait for action. I have also Implemented many green practices into my daily life so I feel that my practical experiences make me a good fit for educating people in our community. For example, I have had a successful worm composter for 6 years in my tiny backyard so 1 can provide hands on knowledge of how to compost vrith very lilile space. My husband and I have owned our home In Huntington Beach for 10 years so I have a vested interest In helping this community as I am a part of it. My daughter attends school here and I want her to be a part of a community that cares about their environment. i feel that my experlences in business will help me relate to our businesses who are trying to do line right thing while managing their bottom lines as well as my experiences living a green life daily. Why Do You Wish to Serve on a Volunteer Citizen`s Body? When 1 was in high school, I read my first book on saving the environment. It was called 160 Simple Things You Can Do to Save the Earth! I choose to attend UC Santa Cruz because it Is an environmentally friendly school and I wanted to meet olher like-minded people. In college I wrote papers on what we can do to save our environment and learned more and more about how I could personally live a greener life. Being an environmentally conscious person is a part of my day to day life and I wish to be involved with the Environmental Board so that I can make a bigger difference in my community. I have seen people change their habits when It became more popular to be green around 2006 and I want to continue that trend by being a part of the task force that Is educating the public and businesses on what they can do.
