SUBJECT: Approve reappointments to the Human Relations Task Force (HRTF) as
recommended by City Council liaisons, Mayor Katapodis and Councilmember

Statement of Issue
The Human Relations Task Force currently has five (5) members with terms that are expiring Four
of the five are requesting reappointment at this time

Recommended Action
Approve the reappointments of Angie Dahman, Linda MacDonell, Minzah Malik, and Lindsley
Lowell Monfort for terms to expire December 31, 2019, as recommended by City Council liaisons
Mayor Katapodis and Councilmember Hardy
Alternative Action(s)
Do not approve appointments to the Human Relations Task Force and direct staff accordingly
Analysis
The Human Relations Task Force (HRTF) was formed in April 1997 with the mission to "promote
and celebrate diversity in our community through education and understanding " Currently the
terms of five (5) members are expiring on December 31, 2015 Four of the five members are
requesting reappointment Each of the four members has been an active participant on the HRTF
The fifth appointment will be recommended for approval by the City Council at a later date after the
vacancy has been advertised A brief description of each member's contribution to the HRTF is
provided below
Angie Dahman Ms Dahman was appointed to her first term on the HRTF on September 16, 2013
She serves as Vice Chair and is the current advisor to our high school student representatives from
each of the seven high schools within the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD)
Linda MacDonell Ms MacDonell was appointed to her first term on the HRTF on January 17,
2012 She currently serves as Chair and has been active in a number of programs of the HRTF,
including the preparation of an HRTF report on bullying in May 2012, serving as liaison to the
Huntington Beach Coordinating Council, attending events on behalf of the HRTF, and working with
student representatives

Minzah Malik Ms Malik was appointed to her first term on the HRTF on January 17, 2012 Ms
Malik serves as liaison to Orange County Human Relations and has actively participated n planning
activities for our student representative program
Lindsley Lowell Monfort Ms Monfort was recently appointed to the HRTF to serve a partial term
on October 5, 2015 In this short time she has already become actively involved in working with
another member to promote and further develop our elementary school diversity book program
