Recommendations: Approve the "Mutual Emergency Response Service - Indemnification Agreement" between the cities of Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach and Westminster. Analysis: heT re are times when there is a shortage of operating fire apparatus and equipment within one of the respective cities. The most cost effective solution to this problem is to borrow a piece of available apparatus or equipment from one of the cooperating jurisdictions. This agreement would permit the respective city fire chief to administratively borrow fire apparatus equipment on a daily as needed basis. Each city would still be responsible for the operating liability plus the insurance deductible which averages $1,000. Fundin Source: Wo funds required over current operating costs. Alternative: oFo not approve the agreement and insist there be no borrowing of apparatus and equipment between cities. RCP:ps
