CONTRACT
THIS AGREE iT, made and entered into as of the 17th day of April ,

Code, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, has
ascertained the general prevailing rate of wagee applicable to the work covered
by this contract as more particularly set forth in a resolution of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach, a certified cony of which resolution
is on file in the office of the City Clerk and made a part hereof and designated
as Resolution No. 3337 , entitled:

California will receive sealed bids to furnish two (2) natural gas engines and
accessories; 1. Power unit and accessories to Banning storm drain Pump Station. 2.

the specifications now on file in the office of the Director of Public Works on or after

In accordance with the provisions of Section 1770 of the Labor Code, the City Council
of the city of Huntington Beach has ascertained the general prevailing rate of wages,
applicable to the work to be done, by Resolution No. 3337 adopted by the City Council
of the city of Huntington Beach on July 6, 1971, copies of which are on file at the
office of the Director of Public Works of the city of Huntington Beach, California.
Specifications together with proposal form may be inspected at the office
of the Director of Publfc Works, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California.
No bid will fie received unless it is made on a blank form furnished by the City.
The special attention of prospective bidders is called to the proposal requirements, s,-L
forth in the specifications, for full (?irecti.ons as to the bidding.
The foregoing quantities are approximate only, being given as a basis for the
comparison of bids, and the city of Huntington Beach does not, express or by implication
agree that the actual amount of work will Correspond therewith but reserves the right
to increase or decrease the amount or any class or portion of the work, as may be deemed

Each bid shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the office of the Direct:r
of Public Works, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California; shall be sealed and filed
with the Ci::y Clerk at 520 Pecan Street, of said City on or before 10:00 A.M. of
April 3, 1972, and shall be opened by a committee composed of the City Clerk, the
City Attorney and Director of Public Works in the Civic Center at 10:00 A.M., or as
soon thereafter as possible, and the results of said bidding will be reported to the
City Council of said City of Huntington Beach at their regular meeting to be held on
Monday, the 3rd day of April, 1972, at the hour. of 4:30 P.M. in the City Council
Chambers in the City Nall of said City of Huntington Beach rnd shall be acted upon
by said City Coun cil at the said regular meeting of April 3, 1972.

pump to be installed at Banning Storm Drain Pump Station. Permission is
requested to purchase said pump.
Enclosed are specifications fo_ an engine for the Banning Storm Drain
Pump Station and for an engine for Slater Storm Drain Pump Station. The
cost estimate for the two (2) engines is $32,000.00.
Funds for the above are available in the drainage districts involved.

Evaluation: The Rolline 1.4000 was ruled out even though it wa: the lowest priced,
because we wanted a new engine; because this particular madel has a bad reputation
and because it has been out of production for 8 or 10 years and parts may becomE
unavailable.
The- Cat 398 did not quite meet specifications,but because it was $1,042.00
less: than the specified Fngine a careful analysis of our actual power require-
ment was made (see follo..ing sheet,) and as a result Ted Allecrlan and I (Iccided
we should buy the Wauk 1,3711 because- the Cat 398 operating at maximum was not
pnwerfu l enough (a nsum;n:; perfect tune and engine c.ond= t i on) and t`ie Wauk 1711
