ANALYSIS•
Water Well No. 2'.. existing engine needs a major overhaul after approxi-
mately 34,000 hours running, with a pumping capacity of 1,550 gallons
per minute. The new engine capacity would be 2.,000 to 2,100 gallons per
minute;,a difference of 450 g.p.m. or 1 c.f.s. To purchase water from
Metropolitan Water District, 1 c.f.s. = $280/day versus the cost of
pumped well water. at $13.0/day. Savings in one year will be $54,000.
FUNDING SOURCE:
The Engineer's Estimate is $36,000.00. This projectwould be 'funded .
by Water Division Capital Outlay Account No. 920921.
ALTERNATE ACTION:
Purchase water from the Metropolitan Water District at.approximately
twice the.cost of well water, and overhaul the existing engine for
approximately $5,000.00
