At that time the committee set aside $2 million in both Fiscal Year 2001/2002 and 2002/2003. These funds remain in the unreserved Equipment Replacement fund balance, Attachment 1. At this time, the Fire Chieflinformation Systems Director is prepared to use these funds ($1,000,000) for information systems infrastructure improvements which include: workstation and printer leases and improvement, as well as upgrades to the citywide network hardware. The leases for the workstations and printers have a three year refresh term over the five year lease, with a lease rate not to exceed 6%. Additionally, $300,000 will be used for professional services contracts for web services. The balance of $700,000 will be used to resolve several licensing issues that have developed due to the federal government's lawsuit against the Microsoft Corporation.
