Flynn, CIVIC, City Clerk SUBJECT: Adopt Resolution No. 2014-84 authorizing the cancellation of the City Council/Public Financing Authority regular meeting of January 5, 2015 Statement of Issue: Due to the holiday season and insufficient time available to prepare agenda items, Council is being asked to adopt Resolution No. 2014-84 approving the cancellation of the January 5, 2015, regular meeting of the City Council/Public Financing Authority and authorize a posting of cancellation notice to the public. Financial Impact: Not applicable. Recommended Action: Adopt Resolution No. 2014-84, "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach Declaring the Cancellation of the City Council and Public Financing Authority Meeting of January 5, 2015; and Directing the City Clerk to Provide Notice of Such Cancellation." Alternative Action(s): Do not approve the cancellation of the January 5, 2015, regular meeting and direct the City Clerk to prepare and post an agenda. Analysis: If approved by Council, the cancellation of the regular City Council/Public Financing Authority meeting scheduled for January 5, 2015, will be publicly noticed. The City Clerk and the Public Information Office will provide widespread notification to the public including, but not limited to, informing the press, notification via the City's website, e-mail communication to boards and commissions, and publication it the City Manager's Weekly Report. Item 12• - 1 HB -132- RESOLUTION NO. 2014-84 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DECLARING THE CANCELLATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND PUBLIC FINANCING AUTHORITY MEETING OF JANUARY 5, 2015; AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO PROVIDE NOTICE OF SUCH CANCELLATION WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Regular meeting of the City Council and Public Financing Authority scheduled for January 5, 2015, should be canceled due to the closure of City Hall from noon on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 through Friday, December 26, 2014, and from noon on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 through Friday, January 2, 2015, for the Christmas and New Year's Holidays; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to declare that the Regular meeting of the City Council and Public Financing Authority scheduled for January 5, 2015, is canceled; and to direct the City Clerk to provide public notice of such cancellation. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as follows: That the Regular meeting of the City Council and Public Financing Authority scheduled for January 5, 2015, is hereby canceled. 2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to provide public notice of such cancellation in such a manner as she deems necessary, or as otherwise required by law.
