Financial Impact: N/A Recommended Action: Adopt Ordinance No. 4024, "An Ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach Amending Chapter 2.28 of the Huntington Beach Municipal Code Relating to the City Council Compensation." Alternative Action(s): Do not adopt Ordinance No. 4024 amending Municipal Code Chapter 2.28 relating to City Council compensation. Analysis: City Council directed the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance that provided benefits to City Council members, available to City Council members elected in 2014. HB -263- Item 12. - I ORDINANCE NO. 4024 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING CHAPTER 2.28 OF THE HUNTINGTON BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE CITY COUNCIL COMPENSATION The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 2.28.030 of the Huntington Beach Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: A. Any councilmember elected after adoption of the ordinance codified in this section (effective 9/19/2012), excluding current councilmembers through their term limit, shall receive a reasonable and adequate amount of $125.00 per month to cover routine and ordinary expenses, losses and costs imposed upon them by virtue of serving as councilmembers. This amount shall not be adjusted annually. B. Any councilmember elected after adoption of the ordinance codified in this section (effective 9/19/2012), excluding current councilmembers through their term limit, may not receive City -funded health insurance benefits (medical/dental/vision/life/add/ltd), nor any cash - in -lieu thereof (medical opt -out). C. Any councilmember elected after adoption of the ordinance codified in this section (effective June 18, 2014) shall receive the reimbursement described above and City -funded health insurance benefits (medical/dental/vision/life/add/ltd) for the councilmember only. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become effective 30 days after its adoption.
