CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: Dave Garofalo, Mayor Pro Tem
DATE: March 1, 1999
SUBJECT: "H" Item for the March 1, 1999, City Council Meeting
Golden West College Foundation Golden Opportunity Gala
ISSUE:
On March 12, 1999, Golden West College Foundation will host their golden Opportunity
Gala. Donations will go towards their Annual Campaign for Scholarships, etc.
Golden West College has for many years been the door through which many have
passed, a stepping stone to a four-year institution, as well as a place where many
gained or improved specific skills. All indications are that this facility will continue to
serve those needs as well as others.
The partnership with this community college is the best it has ever been because of the
leadership on both sides seeking out issues and answers. We have an opportunity to
further participate in their annual event.
MOTION: \ _ ---__- ---- ---- _._ -
-1 move that we acquire a table for the event at a cost not to exceed $750 and that those
funds be taken from the City Council budget allocation.

H-5. (City Council) Request For Permission By Councilmember Julien To Be Absent (120.40)
Communication from Councilmember Julien requesting permission to be absent from the
City Council meeting of March 15, 1999.
Recommended Action: Motion to: Approve said request.
[Approved 7-0]
H-6. (City Council) Submitted By Council/Aaencv Member Raloh Bauer— City Street
Sign Logo (100.20)
Communication from Councilmember Bauer requesting that the City Council consider
adding some sort of a logo to our street signs as they are recycled, perhaps a Pelican or
some other bird to carry the new city hall motif throughout the city. In doing this, we
distinguish ourselves to residents and visitors as something special with regard to their
designation. It might also tend to support the effort of building community pride among
our residents. I am interested in the Council's thoughts.
Recommended Action: Discussion by Council with possible direction regarding
implementation.
[Discussion held]
[Motion to Add Item to the Agenda Subsequent to Agenda Posting
