The Public Works Commission has fulfilled the vision that we had for it. Among other important tasks, the Commission reviews Public Works projects and expenditures and then makes recommendations to Council. The Commission has great fiscal and review responsibilities. Each council member should appoint a member of the Commission, as we do with other commissions and boards that have especially onerous responsibilities; i.e., Planning Commission and Finance and Investment Advisory Boards. RECOMMENDED ACTION: The appointment policy to the Public Works Commission will be one in which each Council Member selects a Public Works Commissioner. This new appointment system is to begin on January 31, 2001. DS:cf
