SUBJECT: Adopt Resolution No. 2013-16 fixing the start time of the Study Session portion
of reaular Citv Council meetinas as 4:00 D.m.
Statement of Issue: The Mayor has requested that Council consider returning the Study Session
portion of regular City Council meetings to its original start time of 4:00 p.m.
Financial Impact:
None.
Recommended Action:
Adopt Resolution No. 2013-16, "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach
Changing the Time of City Council Meetings."
Alternative Action(s):
Do not adopt Resolution No 2013-16 and direct staff accordingly.
Analysis:
In December 2012 Mayor Boardman submitted an agenda item asking Council to consider a
request to fix the start time of City Council meetings to 4:30 p.m. to accommodate her teaching
schedule. Council unanimously approved the request, and on January 22, 2013 adopted
Resolution No. 2013-01 that changed the regular meeting start time from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Mayor Boardman's schedule now allows her to attend meetings beginning at the hour of 4:00 p.m.,
and therefore is requesting that Council approve Resolution No. 2013-16 which changes the start
time of the Study Session portion of the meeting from 4:30 p.m. back to the original time of 4:00
p.m., with the start time of the business and public comments portion of regular City Council
meetings to remain at 6:00 p.m.

RESOLUTION NO. 2013-16
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH TEMPORARILY CHANGING
THE TIME OF CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2013-01 set the starting time for regularly scheduled
City Council meetings to be 4:30 p.m.; and
The City Council has made a request to adjust the starting time of the regularly scheduled
meeting to 4:00 p.m., with the business and public comments portion of the meeting to commence
at 6:00 p.m.,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve
as follows:
Regularly scheduled City Council meetings shall be held at the hour of 4:00 p.m., in
Room B-8 of the Civic Center, with the business and public comments portion of the
meeting to begin at 6.-00 p.m. in Council Chambers.
2. No meeting shall continue beyond 11:00 p.m. without a majority vote of the City
Council.
3. All portions of Resolution No. 2013-01 in conflict herewith are repealed.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 20t.h day of May , 2013.

by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a Regular meeting thereof held on May 20, 2013 by the following vote:
