To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
From: Jill Hardy, City Council Member
Date: November 14, 2016 OV
Subject. CITY COUNCIL MEMBER ITEM FOR THE NOVEMBER 21, 2016,
CITY COUNCIL MEETING — HUNTINGTON BEACH OFFICIAL
FLAG.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
It has been assumed that the official flag of Huntington Beach is the one displayed in the
Council Chambers. On a few occasions, a different flag has been flown to represent the City of
Huntington Beach. For example, the flag flown at the Civic Center is not the same one as in the
Council Chambers because the city does not have an official flag.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
A request to direct staff to prepare a resolution recognizing the flag in the Council Chambers as
the city's official flag.
