The California Supreme Court refuses to review the decision. The ACLU threatens to sue us if we try to protect the children. I think that the city of Huntington Beach should show its respect for Robin's memory, as well as our contempt for the failure of the courts to protect children, by the following action. RECOMMENDED ACTION: The City Council form an ad hoc committee of three Council Members with the task of placing a bench or other significant memorial for Robin Samsoe, at city expense, in a very visible and prominent spot in Pier Plaza to both honor her memory and to serve as a constant reminder that Huntington Beach is determined to do everything possible to protect our children. 2. The public safety services of Huntington Beach (Police, Fire and Marine Safety) report to the City Council on the steps that they are taking to try to prevent a repeat of this tragedy.
