Funding Source: Not applicable Recommended Action: Motion to: Receive and file the Campaign Contribution Limit Recalculation report, which is effective January 1, 2009. Alternative Action(s): Not applicable REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION MEETING DATE: 5/4/2009 DEPARTMENT ID NUMBER: CK 09-004 Analysis: Municipal Code 2.07.050 states in part that, "...no such candidate or committee shall accept from any such person, a contribution or contributions totaling more than five hundred dollars ($500) in a City Council, City Clerk, City Treasurer, or City Attorney election cycle. Thereafter said contribution limitations shall increase by the October Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Anaheim areas, rounded to the nearest $10, effective at the beginning of each new election cycle." Attachment #1 outlines the calculations as of October 2008, and October 2007, and indicates the new limit rounded to the nearest $10 would equal $520, effective January 1, 2009.
