HomeMy WebLinkAboutPresentation by the City Clerk of Information related to GenGENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION November 7, 2006 VOTER REGISTRATION • Voter registration material is available in the City Clerk's Office throughout the year. • The last day to register to vote in the November 7, 2006 election is Monday, October 23, 2006. • You are eligible to vote if you reach the age of 18 on or before November 7, 2006. N r� co _ 1 N ABSENTEE BALLOTS Absentee ballots are issued through the Orange County Registrar of Voters (ROV) and will be available on Monday, October 9, 2006. Absentee ballot applications can be obtained at: • Office of the City Clerk • ROV, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, CA 92705 • ROV website: www.ocvote.com The last day to apply for an absentee ballot through the ROV is Tuesday, October 31, 2006. Absentee ballots received by the ROV or designated precinct after 8:00 p.m. on Election Day will not be counted. SAMPLE BALLOTS Sample ballot mailing occurs between Thursday, September 28, 2006 and Tuesday, October 17, 2006. 2 POLLING PLACES To locate your polling place: • Contact the City Clerk's Office at (714) 536-5227. • Contact the ROV at (714) 567-7600 or visit the ROV website at: www.oc.ca.eov/election/polling/Polline.htm OFFICES FOR ELECTION City Council - Four (4) City Attorney - One (1) Nomination papers may be obtained and filed between July 17 and August 11, 2006 in the Office of the City Clerk. CANDIDATES' STATEMENTS Candidates' statements will be made available for a 10-day public review period beginning on the next business day following the close of the nomination period. DISCLOSURE STATEMENTS Campaign Disclosure Statements are available for public review in the City Clerk's Office, and are scheduled to be posted on the City's website on July 171n 4 TOWN HALL MEETING The City of Huntington Beach and the Registrar of Voters are holding a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, July 19'h at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The ROV will provide basic information on the voting process, registration, and obtaining voting materials in any of the four translated languages (Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish) covered in Orange County.
