Statement of Issue
City Council is requested to approve and accept a major donation from the Woman's Club of

Services and Family Programming as well as the library branches.
Financial Impact:
The size of this donation requires Council approval per Resolution 2014-69, Section 9.
Recommended Action:
Approve and accept the donation of $100,000 from the Friends of the Huntington Beach Public
Library on behalf of the Woman's Club of Huntington Beach.
Alternative Actions): Do not approve and accept the donation.
Analysis:
The Woman's Club of Huntington Beach has traditionally been a strong supporter of the Library,
and has graciously donated $100,000 to the Huntington Beach Public Library through the Friends of
the Huntington Beach Public Library. The $100,000 donation is specifically to assist in capital
improvements to the Central Library and branches. The donation will allow the library to expand
and update the teen area in the Central Library, enhance and update the Early Literacy Zone in the
Children's Library, and provide support for improvements and furniture at branch locations.
This generous donation will help the Library maintain all library facilities and improve the experience
for all library patrons. Support from local organizations, like the Friends of the Huntington Beach
Public Library and the Woman's Club of Huntington Beach, help maintain, improve, and enhance
library services to the community.
