Hopkins, PE, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Adopt Resolution No. 2011-75 approving plans and specifications for the Bartlett Basin Inlet Project, located on Adams Avenue, by the County of Orange Public Works Department Statement of Issue: The County of Orange requires that the City of Huntington Beach approve plans and specifications in order for their project to be constructed within the City. Financial Impact: None Recommended Action: Motion to: Adopt Resolution No. 2011-75, "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach Approving Construction of the Bartlett Basin Inlet Structure To Be Funded By the Orange County Flood Control District." Alternative Action(s): Do not adopt the resolution and direct staff on how to proceed. Item 8. - I HB -282- REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION MEETING DATE: 9/19/2011 DEPARTMENT ID NUMBER: PW11-055 Analysis: The County of Orange, OC Public Works Department on behalf of the Orange County Flood Control District proposes to construct a new inlet to their storm drain, located within the Bartlett Park Basin. This project will have a beneficial impact to the area residents' drainage. Approval of plans and specifications for this project by the City of Huntington Beach is required under provisions of the California Public Contract Code (Section 21020.9). The subject resolution will satisfy this requirement and allow the County of Orange to award a construction contract for this project. Public Works Commission Action: Not Required Environmental Status: Not Required Strategic Plan Goal: Maintain, improve and obtain funding for infrastructure and equipment Attachment(s): Resolution No. 2011-75, "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach Approving Construction of the Bartlett Basin Inlet Structure To Be Funded by the Oranqe County Flood Control District" HB -283- Item 8. - 2 ATTACHMENT #1 Item 8. - 3 HB -284- RESOLUTION NO. 2011-75 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH APPROVING CONSTRUCTION OF THE BARTLETT BASIN INLET STRUCTURE TO BE FUNDED BY THE ORANGE COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT WHEREAS, the County of Orange Public Works Department on behalf of the Orange County Flood Control District proposes to construct an inlet structure within Bartlett Basin located on Adams Avenue, (the "Project"), which Project has been found to have beneficial impacts on drainage within the City of Huntington Beach; and Approval of plans and specifications for the Project by the City Council is required under provisions of the California Public Contract Code, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby approve the submitted plans and specifications for the Project as proposed by the County of Orange Public Works Department.
