Palin, .Director Public Works Development Services Subject SCHEDULE FOR DEMOLITION OF OLD CIVIC Date May 4, 1981 CENTER SITE; AUTHORIZATION OF FUNDS AVAILABLE This memo is written authorization of funds available for demolition of existing buildings .on the Old Civic Center Site; it is in response to a request from Don Blackman, Engineering Coordinator at the Corporation Yard of this date. The existing municipal buildings on the Old Civic Center Site will, have to be demolished prior to the commencement of construction of the Senior Citizens Recreation Center and the Huntington Seaview apartments. In reviewing the re- vised schedule for this project (as of April 1, 1981) , it's become apparent that we need to proceed with the demolition phase of this project at this time. The new schedule for this phase of the project is . as follows : 1. Request Council approval of demolition plans and specifications: 5/1/81. 2. Make plans and specifications available to bidders and advertise the project: 6/15/81. 3. Council selection of, contractor: 7/20/81. 4. Demolition start: 8/20/81. 5. Demolition complete: 9/20/81. The funds available for the Senior Citizens Recreation Center and Huntington Sea- view apartments are: Account 894764 $ 50,000 - Second Year HCD Block Grant funds Account 894771 $250,000 Third Year HCD Block Grant funds Account 894773 $105,000 - Third Year HCD Block Grant funds Account 894797 $145,000 - Fifth Year HCD Block Grant funds 550,000 With a construction budget of $416,667 and architectural fees of $33,333, this leaves approximately $100,000 budgeted for the demolition of existing buildings on the site. This memo constitutes the availability of funds necessary to authorize approval of demolition plans by the City Council .
