Subject: PROPOSED RELOCATION OF HISTORIC STRUCTURE LOCATED AT 11TH
AND PECAN
Consistent with Council Policy? Yes [ ] New Policy or Exception
Statement of Issue, Recommendation, Analysis, Funding Source, Alternative Actions, ttachments:
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: -
The City has the opportunity to relocate a structure wit historical
significance. In absence of such relocation, the str ure will be
demolished to make way for new construction.
RECOMMENDATION•
It is recommended that staff be directed to relocate the structures
on a temporary basis U@ i6he NswlaaA Gea4eLs and that $23,000 be
authorized to effect such a relocation.
ANALYSIS:
The property located at the southeast corner of llth and Pecan has
been purchased by a developer. The property is currently developed
with a 24 x 40 one story chapel known as the Little Blue Church and
6 x 8 accessory building, both of which have historical
significance. .The owner has offered to donate the structures to the
City if the City would be willing to relocate them in a timely
manner. Since the owner is anxious to proceed with development of
the property, it is important that the structure be relocated as
soon as possible. The owner had originally intended to demolish the
structures on February 22, 1988 but has postponed that action until
April 4, 1988. With the limited time available, the City is unable
to search for and acquire an appropriate lot to which the structures
could be relocated. As an alternate, it is proposed that the
structures be stored at the Newland Center and that funds be
authorized to effect such a relocation. At a later date, staff will
recommend whether the structures should be permanently located at
the Newland Center or relocated to a permanent site.
FUNDING SOURCE:
General Fund Unappropriated Fund Balance.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION:
Do not approve fund to relocate structures.

Subject REQUEST FOR FUNDING TO
ACCOMMODATE PROPOSED RELOCATION
OF HISTORIC CITY STRUCTURE
F.I.S. #88-6
From ROBERT J. FRANZ
Deputy City Administrator
Date MARCH 24, 1988
As requested under the authority of Resolution 4832, a Fiscal Impact
Statement has been prepared and submitted relative to.the proposed
funding for the purported temporary relocation of the Little Blue
Church and an accessory structure from their present site to the
Newland Center. Anticipations are that an appropriation of $23,000
would be adequate for this purpose.
An affirmative response by the City Council would reduce the balance
of the City's unappropriated General Fund to $2,608,732.
