It is located on Brookhurst between Del Mar Mobile Home Estates (19251 Brookhurst Street) and the now -closed PhoTastic Restaurant (19201 Brookhurst Street). The land is under high-tension wires which I understand causes limitations on its development. Other parks and Green Belt areas in Huntington Beach are also under the high-tension wires. Signs on some of these properties indicate they were made into landscaped areas through a cooperative agreement with SoCal Edison and the City of Huntington Beach. While SoCal Edison leases this land to Nagasake Nursery, all the plants have recently been moved out and no operations seem to be going on (except for some homeless people occasionally camping there). Our Del Mar Homeowners Association (HOA) would welcome discussion with the City Council and SoCal Edison about the use of this land. I believe our HOA would entertain ideas for helping with the conversion of the land, such as planting flowers, keeping the area clean, building benches, etc. Several of our members have mentioned the concept to Orchard Supply Hardware Store on Brookhurst & Adams. They might also like to be involved. Since the land is not being used currently, it is unsightly to our Mobile Home residents whose houses sit above the fence line and can see into the area. Coyotes and homeless roam on the land. The dust blows on windy days. Our mobile home park has maintained the fencing which we think looks very attractive. Our HOA recommends an entrance on Brookhurst to a small parking area would be advisable. The Green Belt could encompass just the eastern section of the SoCal Edison land, adjacent to the road that connects the two halves of our mobile home park Estanislau & Posey July 17, 2018 Page Two (see enclosed map). Or the Green Belt could encompass the whole area from Brookhurst Street to the end of the high-tension wires. A map of our Park is enclosed.
