The City is pleased to uphold your right to political signs. As you may know, however, the City has a strict sign code for commerclai'signs. This pamphlet Is designed to help you place your political signs appropriately throughout the City. The City's political sign regulations enable freedom of expression while preserving public safety and neighborhood aesthetics. if you have any questions about your political signs, please contact the City Clerk at (714) 593-4445. The Fountain Valley Municipal Code. regulates political. signs. These sections will help you place your signs appropriately: 18.28.020: Signs on public places and objects. (a) No person, firm, or corporation shall paint, mark or write on, post, attach or otherwise affix, any handbill, notice or sign to or upon any sidewalk, crosswalk, curb, curbstone, street lamppost, hydrant, tree, shrub, tree stake or guard, electric light, power or telephone pole or wire or other appurtenance thereof, or upon any lighting system, bridge, drinking fountain, street sign, traffic sign, fence, building or structure of any kind located on city property or on any city right-of-way or easement... (b) Any sign found posted or affixed upon or to any public property contrary to the provisions of this section may be removed by the police department, planning department or public works department. The person responsible for such illegal posting shall be liable for the cost incurred in the removal thereof.
