He: City Hospital Flanning
We physicians, pra,^.ticing medic -'.re in the %City of Hunt-
inji6m Beach and being desirous of providing for our patients,
residents of Huntington Beach, the best comprehensive medical
care at the least possible cost, wish to make known to the City
Council our views conceening hospital planning, as followat
We believe that thy: interests of this cormunity would be
beat served by the development of a non-profit community hos-
pitai.
Further we believe, that the establishment within our
city of a multiplicity of small proprietary hospitals would
not adequately serve the medical needs of our co=vnity.
Moreover, we believe that by now permitting the construc-
tion within the city of a small proprietary hospital the future
course of hospital development in our community will have been
determined and that there will follow a progression of such
small hospitals as the area population expands,
Finally, we believe that such a program of small pro-
prietary hospital construction deter the development within
our city of a non-profit community hospital, and that it will
be difficult if not impossible to eat+ract community and finan-
cial support for such a non-profit hospital from private, com-
mercial, church and gcver mental sources.
Therefore, we request that the City Council initiate
planning for the dovelopment of hospital facilities for our
community, and refuse to permit the construction of small pro-
prietary hospitals in such a uiarner as to deter the establish-
ment of a ncm-profit community hospital.
Respectfully submitted,
May 130 1963
