Bet City Hospital Planning
We physicians, practicing medicine In the City of Hunt-
in$&m Beach and being desirous of providing for our patients,
residents of Huntington Reach, the best comprehensive medical
care at the least possible cost, wish to awake known to the City
Council o-ir views concerning hosF_ .:al planning, ab follown s
We believe that the interests of this community would be
best served by the davelapa.snt of a non-profit community hos-
pita3 .
Furt:--vr? vo believe that the establishment within. our
city of a multip.l.iel ty of small proprietary hospitals would
not adequately serve the wedlcal needs of our cosmmunity.
Moreover, we believe that by now permitting the construe-
tion within the city of a small proprietary hospital the future
course of hospital development in our community will have been
determined and that there will. Follow a progression of such
small hosp tals as the area population expaeds e
Finally, we believe that such a program of small pro-
prietary hospital construction deter the development within
our city of a rion-profit community hospital, and that it u-111
be difficult if not Impossible to attrrct cosununity and finan-
cial support for such a nonprofit hospital from private, com-
mercial, church and governmental sources.
Therefore, we request that the City Council initiate
planning for the development of hospital facilities for our
community, and refuse to permit the construction of scull pro-
pridtary hospitalo in such a manner as to deter the establish-
ment of a non-profit community hospital.
Respectfully submitted,
