STENART lWatES, D.V.H. ;e own and live in home ad,jacent''to--tear of the property upon. whiGx Dr. Hughes proposes to build the animal clinic. We attended the ! neeting geld in your chambers on July 16, and were Impressed with the pros and cons presented by our neigh'ior s. It struck us that thu majority were opposed and the two no,steloquent backers of Dr. Hushes f were a gentleman who lives on Delaware Street, which is so far re- ' .moved from the site that t would b - is . i e safe to suppose he would he be- yond yond reach of any potential noises or odors. The other gentleman was a doctor who would not identify the property he owns o-i Beach Blvd. We believe he is the present owner of the lased in question acid is desirous of selling it to Ur. Hughes - his motive in appea.Un,g for the Variance therefore, is quite obviou3. ' tie mould not say that we are not concerneJ with ctevaluation of our property should you agree to Dr. ltughes establishing his clinic. But far and above any monetary consideration is our fear that should this happen,, our home and especially the backyard, which adjoins the Beach Blvd. prove rty, would becocee untenable. This posts a very ser- ious threat in that our home, as well as other homes along our street, are primarily geared for the enjoyment of our children and our neigh- bor's children . There is not a single delinquent child in our neigh- borh"d - we know this is due to fact they enjoy our heroes and so long as they remain attractive to *hem for their pleasure:, we feel there will not be any delincpaency. Their horaes are the forsl point of their lives and it would be a sin to deprive them of their pleasures - cer- tainly you will agree it would no longer be possible enjoy backyard living where noises of sick animals were constant . We feel our fears are well founded for the reason that on two of Dr. Hughes visits to us, he stated he would not guarantee he would not at i some future date appeal for variance so that he could eaaploy outside runs for the nn.isnals. tie and his real estate agent visited us on five different occasions and they did present winning arguments in an effort to secure our Approval for his venture. They almost ri.,rsuaded us but j for the above reason - i.e., lit w:,uld not guarantee that outside j kennels would not someday become; a reality. g Gentlemen, we earnestly hope and pray ycu will decline Dr. Hughes request since after all, we cannot remove; our hcaes he 49ts not own the Eeach Blvd. property and could better establish .hiwaself in a coeamrereial area where there would be no threat to the enjoyment of ours or anrones home. ,1 Paul and Roslt 1113&hes V 18372 Panay Laney, fluntiagton Deach To tho 119noml2o City Council of that City of Mmilzgtors brrch f:xxttinax, ic.rhy Cuyfornia . E. Stewart Hughes operated his business in our or-ea fat, s•ix '6) years. His Dayton Smail Animal Hospital was located in the same district with a supermarket , drug stores, drive-in restaurant, restaurant-night club and directly across the streat from our body shop. There has never been any cause for complaint resulting from his operation of the hospital . He kept a clean establ isi=ent , free of odor and there was no disturL•ance due to noisy caused by the ' animals he treated. We believe that Dr. Hughes would be an asset to any comr-,nity persmilly as well as business-wise.
