The two main roa3ons for turning dcwn the application Were: (1) They felt that it Mould create a traffic, hazard by distracting drivers on Beach Blvd. (Using the Domin .tat Slide for an example) (2) They felt that the ntructure was unattractive. (Without havins seen or investigated the intended area of application) While Beach Blvd. is designated as a stato highway, it is rapidly becoming; the main Blvd, thoroughfare of the City of Huntington Beach. Approximately five rest traffic have been installed along the Boulevard which with the present 1,.ghts, making the traffic halt every other intersection, linit3 to 30 to 35 KPH, this definitely could not cause a hazard with traffic moving at this speed. Slides are not considered particularly unique at the present tiara. For an example, we point out the slide constructed in Dominguez directly Adjacent to the San Diego Freeway, which has a speod limit of 65 M. and a usual traffic ::peed of 70 to 75 M . The City requires a fifty foot set -back to pre: ent visual obstruction awl the ;0 foot :setback plus the 20 foot area of the .lide front being ground level could neither be a visual obstruction or so spectacular as to create a traffic hazard.
