The following susgertions ;•ere Agreed upon by the Recreation and Parks Commission and are now recommecded to the City Council: MEPORIAYS 1. That a single designated area of a park be used for Appropriate placques rather than scattered about as In cemeteries. 2. That trees given in memory of persons be recognized on a single placqua designed to allow names to be , added. 3. That types of park signs and their costs be evaluated in that perhaps memorials could be included in the sign structure, G. That pinequesr listing city councilmen in office at I time, of dedication (similar to those mounted in buildings) also be installed in each park. 5. Arevalos Park 2, Since it is unlikely that many more perks will be obtained that are not adjacent to schools, the Commission felt that in order to exhaust the list of past Huntington Beach Mayors, both living and deceased, that features of the Central Park such as lakes, structures (other than restrooms), groves of i trees, walk-ways, play fields, group camp and picnic sites, j gardenst play equipment areas, meadows, amphitheatres, vistas, bridges, wildlife refuges, etc. be named after these to honor them for their service to the City. With proper identification (signs and placques) of these features along t with a brief descriptlon of the former mayors and their accomplishments, the citizens would be made aware of the eityts colorful history by simply taking a tour of the Park. Precedent for this has already been set in the official naming of the former county property in the south-east sec- tor after former mayor Thomas B, Talbert 3.
