SUBJECT: APPROVE GRANT OF EASEMENT FOR UNDERGROUND
ELECTRICAL UTILITIES
Statement of Issue, Funding Source, Recommended Action,Alternative Action(s),Analysis, Environmental Status,Attachment(s)
Statement of Issue: Development of the Huntington Beach Central Park Sports Complex
requires the installation of underground utilities. A Grant of Easement to Southern California
Edison is required to facilitate construction of the underground electrical utility. Conveyance
of a real property interest in real property owned by the City of Huntington Beach requires
direction of the City Council for the execution of the Grant of Easement by the Mayor and City
Clerk.
Funding Source: Not Applicable.
Recommended Action: Authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a Grant of Easement
conveying a real property interest from the City of Huntington Beach to Southern California
Edison.
Alternative Action(s): There is not an alternative action.
Analysis:The Huntington Beach Central Park Sports Complex is currently under
development and the improvements being constructed require electrical utilities. The
placement of those electrical utilities requires the granting of an appropriate easement in favor
of Southern California Edison prior to construction. The granting of an easement conveys a
real property interest and must be approved as to form by the City Attorney's office and
requires authorization by the City Council for the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the Grant of
Easement affecting a portion of the subject property identified as Assessor Parcel Number
111-071-54.
