Statement of Issue: The City desires to revise the existing Insurance
Resolution #6023 to provide for an expedient waiver procedure for professional
liability insurance requirements.
Recommended Action: Adopt Resolution # 62 77 amending the City's insurance
requirements.
Analysis: The current Resolution 46023) requires City Council approval to
modify or waive any and all insurance requirements. This is a time consuming
process for all parties. The City Council has been burdened with the review
and approval of all requests for waiver for professional liability insurance.
This Resolutiom empowers the Claims Settlement Committee the authority to
approve waivers or modifications for professional liability insurance
requirements and privately funded contracts. Additionally, retired City
employees and persons providing judicial or quasi—judicial professional
services will be exempt from the insurance requirement.
Funding Source: Not applicable.
Alternative Action: Continue to require that every request for waiver or
modification of professional liability insurance be approved by City Council.
