Franz, Deputy City Admini Subject: Insurance Resolution Consistent with Council Policy? r� Yes [ j New Statement of Issue, Recommendation, Analysis, Funding Source, Alternative Actions, Attachments: Statement of Issue: The City desires to revise the existing Insurance Resolution #6023 to provide for an expedient waiver procedure for professional liability insurance requirements. Recommended Action: Adopt Resolution # 62 77 amending the City's insurance requirements. Analysis: The current Resolution 46023) requires City Council approval to modify or waive any and all insurance requirements. This is a time consuming process for all parties. The City Council has been burdened with the review and approval of all requests for waiver for professional liability insurance. This Resolutiom empowers the Claims Settlement Committee the authority to approve waivers or modifications for professional liability insurance requirements and privately funded contracts. Additionally, retired City employees and persons providing judicial or quasi—judicial professional services will be exempt from the insurance requirement. Funding Source: Not applicable. Alternative Action: Continue to require that every request for waiver or modification of professional liability insurance be approved by City Council. Attachments: 1. Summary of Changes 2. The changes incorporated into the new resolution are as follows: Page 3 1.d. Self insured retentions in excess of $15,000 to be approved by Claims Settlement Committee. Previously self retentions in excess of $10,000 were approved by the Risk Manager. Page 5 E Addition of paragraphs 2 and 3 to provide procedure for waiver of professional liability insurance requirement. Page 7 Addition of paragraphs 4 and 5 to exempt retired City employees and persons providing judicial or quasi-judicial services for insurance requirements.
