. Reporting of Sewer Leaks
a Subsurface leaks were not reported to
state regulatory agencies
Documented discussions with Orange
County Health Care Agency in 1996
revealed that it was unclear as to
whether leaks were reportable as
spills
x Protocol now in place to report
conditions as required
Involvement of Local Agencies
• OCSD has worked with City since early
1998 on cooperative sewer repair funding
• Potential for contamination from sewers
discussed with affected agencies, including,
OCSD, County Health Care Agency &
SARWQCB, as part of 1999 coastal water
pollution investigation meetings
• County & OCSD participated in developing
scope of work & funding for study that
included subsurface conditions
