The developer is seeking to vacate the surplus portions of right-of-way created by the extension of Island Bay Lane so that the street segment along the subject site will be consistent with existing street improvements to the south, and with proposed improvements to the north. The vacation will allow for transfer of the subject property to the adjoining residential property owners. The size of the areas to be transferred are not substantial and will not result in a significant variation in lot size from other lots in the area. The Planning Commission, on April 19, 1994, approved General Plan Conformance No. 94-2 with the findings that the vacation of Island Bay Lane conforms to the City's General Plan. The City Council, on June 6, 1994, approved Resolution of Intent No. 6594 to vacate a portion.of Island Bay Lane, north of Palm Avenue, and scheduled a public hearing for July 5, 1994. ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS: The proposed project is categorically exempt pursuant to Class 12 Section 15312 of the California Environmental Quality Act. \ l Request for City Council Action Vacation of Island Bay Lane, Tract No. A July 5, 1994 Page 2 FUNDING SOURCE There is no cost involved in the recommended action. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt the attached resolution of intent No. to vacate a portion of Island Bay Lane, north of Palm Avenue, and schedule the required public hearing for July 5, 1994. ANALYSIS: The Planning Commission, on January 31, 1992, approved Tentative Tract No. 14244 with the condition that a portion of the cul-de-sac located at the northerly terminus of Island Bay Lane be vacated due to the extention of Island Bay Lane. The developer is seeking to vacate the surplus portions of right-of-way created by the extension of Island Bay Lane so that the street segment along the subject site is consistent with existing street improvements to the south and proposed improvements to the north. The vacation will allow for transfer of the subject property to the adjoining residential property owners; however, the size of the areas to be transferred are not substantial and will not result in a significant variation in lot size from other lots in the area. The Planning Commission, on April 19, 1994, approved General Plan Conformance No. 94-2 with the findings that the vacation of Island Bay Lane conforms to the City's General Plan. ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS: The proposed project is categorically exempt pursuant to Class 12, Section 15312 of the California Environmental Quality Act.
