NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN.that a public hearing will be held by the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach, in the Council Chamber of the Civic Center,
Huntington Beach, at the hour of 7:30 P.M., or as soon thereafter as

STATEMENT OF. ISSUE:
Transmitted for yourconsideration is Code Amendment No. 80-2, amending
Division 9 of the Huntington.Beach Ordinance Code to allow advertising
on trash: -can receptacles and bicycle racks.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Planning Commission and the Department of Development Services staff
recommend that the City Council approve Code.Amendment No. 80-2.
ANALYSIS:
Applicant: Planning Commission
Request: Amend Section 9760.29 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code to permit the placing of advertising
on trash can receptacles and bicycle racks.

WAS APPROVED BY THE FOLLOWING -VOTE:

Discussion:
Code Amendment —No. 80-2 will amend Section 9760.29 of Division 9 of
the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code to permit the placing of advertising

on trash can receptacles and bicycle racks. Plough, Inc., the makers
of Coppertone, has offered toyprovide complimentary trash receptacles
for City beaches and parks in an effort to help governmental agencies
offset operational costs. The trash receptacles would carry the Copper -
tone trademark.
According to the Department of Community Services, the offer by Plough,
Inc. will result in substantial cost savings to the City for receptacle
replacement and maintenance.
ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS:
Code Amendment No. 80-2 is exempt from the provisions -of the State EIR
Guidelines and CEQA.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Not applicable.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION:
The City Council may consider revising the code amendment as it deems
necessary.
