. STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Transmitted for your consideration is Code Amendment No. 80-5, an
amendment to the Ordinance Code to allow the office professional
uses in the C2, Community Business District.
. RECOMMENDATION:
The Planning Commission and the Planning Staff recommend the City
Council approve Code Amendment No. 80-5 and adopt the attached
Ordinance.

DISCUSSION:
At the June 17, 1980, Planning Commission meeting, staff was
directed to initiate a code amendment to permit office professional
buildings in the C2 , Community Business District. The existing code
allows professional office buildings subject to the Cl regulations
(50 ft. setback, minimum site area of one-half#acre, and 20 ft. height
limitation. ) 'Code Amendment No. 80-5 will allow a professional
office building that would be more suitable to the setback, height,
and site regulations of the C2 District.
ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS:
Code Amendment No. 80-5 is exempt from the provisions of the
California Environmental Quality Act (Class 5) .
FUNDING SOURCE:
Not applicable
ALTERNATIVE ACTION:
The City Council may deny this request and .continue subjecting
office professional buildings to the Cl regulations.

PROFESSIONAL USES IN A C-2 COMMUNITY BUSINESS DISTRICT
1. 0 SUGGESTED ACTION:
Staff recommends that the Planning Commission approve Code .Amendment
No. 80-5, a request to allow professional office buildings in the C-2
District.
2. 0 GENERAL INFORMATION:
On .June 17, 1980, the Planning Commission directed staff to initiate
a code amendment to permit professional office .buildings in the C2
District subject to the approval of an administrative review appli-
cation. Staff has completed the proposed code amendment and
recommends that professional office buildings be subject to the
provisions of the C2 District.
3. 0 SUMMARY OF ISSUES:
Code Amendment No. 80-5 will allow for a professional office building
that would be more suitable to .the setback, height, and site regu-
lations of the C2 District.
4. 0 ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS:
Code Amendment No. 80-5 is exempt from the -provisions of the Califor-
nia Environmental Quality Act (Class 5) .
5.0 ANALYSIS:
The intent of Code Amendment No. 80-5 is to allow professional office
buildings in the C2 Community Business District. The existing code
allows professional office buildings subject to the Cl regulations
(50 ft. setback, minimum site area of one-half acre, and 20 ft.
height limitation) . Code Amendment No. 80-5 would allow the buildings
subject to all provisions of the C2 regulations.
