RE: Code Amendment No. 73-30
Transmitted herewith is Code Amendment No. 73-30 the purpose of which
is to redefine a portion of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code that
will assist in clarifying the intent of Article 985. Said article
provides for the jurisdiction and objectives of the Design Review.
Board for the City of Huntington Beach.
Several sections of the amendment are very minor in nature and only
involve changes of certain wording. There are two proposed changes
of greater significance and include the expansion of the Design
Review Board's jurisdiction that will provide for design review
of the arterial street landscape programs and street furniture.
In addition, the Board's action on civic district applications will
be final unless appealed to the Planning Commission. This deletes
the current provision for referral of all of these items to the
Planning Commission.
The code amendment was approved by the Planning Commission at its
meeting of December 3, 1974 by a unanimous vote. The amendment is
exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality
Act, 1970.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Planning Commission recommends approval of Code Amendment No. 73-30.
Respectfully submi ted,
