Gentlemen:
Transmitted herewith is a proposed amendment to Division 9
of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code. Said amendment
pertains to Article 979 and requires: 1) curbs for land-
scaped areas; 2) a limit for the height of boundary land-
scaping; 3) maintenance of landscaped areas, and; 4) all
required landscaping to be located within the off-street
parking area.
The Planning Commission unanimously approved this matter
on November 1, 1966, and recommends adoption by your Hon-
orable Body.

Section 1. That the following sections are hereby
added to Division 9 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code and
shall read in words and figures as follows:
S. 9792.2 Landscaping: All required landscaping
shall be distributed within the off-
street parking area.
S. 9792.2.4 Curbs. All landscaped areas shall be
separated from adjacent parking areas
by a wall or curb that is at least six (6) inches high.
S. 9792.2.5 Height of Boundary Landscaping, For
traffic safety vision, the height of
all boundary landscaping within five (5) feet of an alley
or drive shall not exceed thirty-two (32) inches, Measure-
ment of said five (5) feet shall be taken from the entrance
or exit points of the alley or drive.
S. 9792..66 Maintenance. All landscaping shall be
maintained in neat, clean, and healthy
condition. Maintenance shall include proper pruning, mowing
of lawns, weeding, removal of litter, fertilizing, replacement
of plants when necessary, and regular watering.
