Transmitted herewith is a proposed amendment to Division 9
of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code. Said amendment
pertains to Article 951, 953 and 971 and elfmfnates) the use
of property for the storage of portable outdoor -sanitation
facilities in the indfstrial zones and will cause abatement
or removal of those that are existing within 6 months.
Said amendment also proposes to add to Article 973 the
requirement to screen rooftop mechanical features in the
professional, commercial and industrial zones.
The Planning Commission unanimously approved this matter on
October 4, 1966, and recommends adoption by your Honorable
Body. ,

Section 1 That the following sections of Division 9
of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code are hereby amended, and
as amended shall read in words and figures as follows.
9511 Soap manufacture.
Storage Yards m see screening requirements (storage
of outdoor portable sanitation facil-
ities, such as: privys, outhouses and
other similar outbuildings shall be
prohibited).
9530 (0) Caretakers dwelling on factory premises.
Carpet cleaning plants.
Cleaning and dyeing plants.
ContractorBs storage yards (except storage of outdoor
portable sanitation facilities, such
aso privys, outhouses and other similar
outbuildings shall be prohibited.
Cosmetics, manufacture of,
Creameries and dairy products manufacturing.
9553®3 Storage. Storage of explosives, excepting petroleum
products. Storage of all outdoor portable
sanitation facilities, such as: privys, outhouses and
other similar out -buildings shall be prohibited.
Section 2 That the following sections are hereby added
to Division 9 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code and shall
read in words and figures as follows:
2711.21 Abatement of Nonconforming Use ® The nonconforming use
of land for the storage
of outdoor portable sanitation facilities, such as.
privys, outhouses and other similar outbuildings shall
be abated within six (6) months from the effective date
of this Ordinance,
9730022 Screeninnoff Rooftop Mechanical Features. Rooftop appur-
tenances, such as -
ventilators, air-conditioning units, heaters and similar
mechanical features on professional, commercial, industrial,
and quasi -public or public buildings shall be screened from
view either by the upward extension of parapets or by an
enclosure having permanent screening. Air vents, exhausts
and ducts, where necessary, according to the Building Code,
may extend above or outside this screening.
