Statement of Issue: An appointment to the Library Board of Trustees must be approved by
the City Council.
Funding Source: Not applicable.
Recommended Action: Motion to: Appoint Harold Hall to his first four-year term (07/01/07
— 06/30/11) to the Library Board of Trustees as recommended by the City Council Library
liaisons, Gil Coerper and Joseph Carchio.
Alternative Action(s): Consider alternative appointments.
Analysis: Due to the term of office expiration for John Parodi on June 30, 2007, a vacancy
was created on the Library Board of Trustees. City Council liaisons Gil Coerper and Joseph
Carchio, liaisons to the Library Board, reviewed applications of the candidates and selected
Harold Hall from the available applicants. Mr. Hall is a resident of Huntington Beach with an
extensive background in Engineering, Public Policy and Business Administration as well as
volunteer experience.
Strategic Plan Goal(s): Engaging the Community: E-1 - Increase community involvement,
dialogue, and outreach by educating residents about opportunities for involvement.
