Dear Jim,
This is a cover letter with input to you regarding my attached letter expressing
interest in continuing to serve on the Community Services Commission.
I have enjoyed my years of service on the Commission very much and I am willing
to continue to serve for one last term. At the same time, I am very open to having
someone else serve instead of me if that will better benefit the Community
Services Department. I understand that my awareness of the Commission's history
is helpful at times, but there is also the benefit that comes from adding new
leadership.
Having said all this....I give you and your staff permission to use my willingness to
serve or not serve however it best benefits the department.
Hope your birthday celebration was enjoyable...warm regards.

ATTN: David C. Dominguez, Secretary, Community Services Commission
Dear Mayor Cook:
Ms. Betsy Smith has been the representative from Golden West College/Coast
Community College District to the Huntington Beach Community Services
Commission for the past four years. As her term is now finished, Mr. Albert
Gasparian is our nominee as the new representative to serve a four-year term from
2008-2012.
Mr. Gasparian has lived in Huntington Beach for many years and serves as our Dean
of Physical Education and Athletics. He was formerly an instructor and head
Women's Volleyball Coach, and we think would be an excellent representative on the
Commission.
I look forward to hearing the decision of the City Council.
