BONFA City Attorne Attachment -P,r- --3 23 March 1971 TO: City Council FROM: City Attorney SUBJECT: Resolution Amending Section 8 of Resolution No. 3164 Relative to Conduct of Council Meetings at Which the Election of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore is Held At the request of the City Clerk, I am submitting a pro- posed resolution which amends Section 8 of Resolution No. 3164 by adding to subsection (m) thereof the following: "The annual election of mayor and mayor pro tempore shall be held at the time specified in Section 504 of the Charter, or, in years when no general or special municipal election is held, at the second regular council meeting in April." BONFA City Attorney DPB:lm Attachment £—1 To From SOFFICE MEMORANDUM City Clerk % Date July 22, 1969 City Attorney In Re Reading of Bid Transmittals In order to shorten and simplify council meetings, we make the following recommendation in connection with your practice of reading in full, bid transmittals from the Director of Public Works to the council. The law does not require that the transmittal be read. We suggest that you give copies of the transmittals to the council prior to the meeting, and when the matter comes up on the agenda, you may merely invite the attention of the City Council to the written transmittal in their hands, and advise them that the Director of Public Works recommends that the con- tract be awarded to , as successful bidder. If any member of the council requests you to read the transmittal in full, you will, of course, comply. �Z
