REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION MEETING DATE: 3/1/2010 DEPARTMENT ID NUMBER: ED 10-02 Analysis: The Mobile Home Advisory Board (MHAB) is an advisory body to the City Council that works to ensure the quality of life in Huntington Beach mobile home parks. The MHAB addresses issues that affect the City's 18 mobile home communities by providing a forum for communication among mobile home residents, park owners, and the City Council. The MHAB currently has six vacancies. Three vacancies are due to the lack of mobile home park owners interested in serving on the board and the recent resignation of a Mobile Home Park Owner Representative. The remaining vacancies were created with the departure of a Mobile Home Resident Representative, and terming out of a Resident -at -Large Representative and Mobile Home Resident Representative. The City informed the public of the MHAB recruitment through the following means: Posting an announcement at all public libraries and at the Civic Center; advertising the recruitment in the City's online publication, "Community Connection"; and local newspapers carried an article about the vacancies. Applications were received from five mobile home park residents and two residents -at -large who expressed interest in serving on, or being reappointed to, the Board. After reviewing the applications, City Council Liaisons, Keith Bohr and Don Hansen, have recommended Elizabeth Alex and Mary Baretich for appointment to the Board, and Steve Gullage for reappointment to the Board. Attachment 1 presents a current membership roster of the MHAB showing the recommended appointees and re -appointee. Strategic Plan Goal: Improve Internal and External Communication.
