REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
MEETING DATE: 4/4/2011 DEPARTMENT ID NUMBER: ED 11-14
Analysis: The Mobile Home Advisory Board (MHAB) is an advisory body to the City Council
that works to ensure the quality of .,life in Huntington Beach mobile home.parks. The-MHAB
addresses issues that affect the City's 18 mobile home communities by providing a forum for
communication among mobile home residents, park owners, and the City Council.
The MHAB currently has four vacancies. Three of the vacancies are due to lack of interest
among mobile home park owners in serving on the Board. There is currently one vacancy
was for an At -Large Member. The proposed replacement Resident -At -Large Representative,
Dan Kalmick, will occupy Mr. Porter's former position on the MHAB.
The City informed the public of the MHAB recruitment through the following means: posting
an announcement at all public libraries, community centers, and at the Civic Center; the
recruitment was advertised on the City's HBTV3 scroll and on the City website; and articles
about the vacancy were published in the City Manager's Report. Applications were received
from two Residents -At -Large who expressed interest in serving on the Board.
Dan Kalmick is recommended to fill the gap term that will expire on August 5, 2011. In July,
staff will come back to the Council and ask to fill this and one other term that will become
vacant as of August 5, 2011.
Environmental Status: Not Applicable
Strategic Plan Goal: Improve Internal and External Communication
