FREIDENRICH, CITY TREASURER ..� z SUBJECT: ADOPT RESOLUTION GRANTING DESTRUCTION OF R§COEDS Statement of Issue,Funding Source,Recommended Action,Alternative Action(s),Analysis,Environmental Status,Attachment(s) Statement of Issue: Under the authority of Government Code Section 34090.5, 34090.6, and 81009, a department head may destroy certain City records which are two years old under his/her charge, as long as such destruction is first approved by the City Attorney and the City Council by resolution. Funding Source: None Recommended Action: Adopt Resolution No. granting authorization to destroy the records listed in Exhibits 1 — 7". Alternative Action(s): Do not approve the Resolution. Analysis: The destruction of the records on the attached form(s) is necessary to conserve storage space and reduce staff time, expense, and confusion in handling and retrieving documents. Exhibits 1-7;.list of records to be destroyed 2. 1 Resolution No.-./—1 /0 Z dstryrcd.doc -2- November 29, 1999 3:06 PM G .. = ' r ' RESOLUTION NO. 9 9—10 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN CITY RECORDS WHEREAS, Government Code Sections 34090.5, 34090.6 and 81009 provide, among other things, that certain public records may be destroyed with the consent of the City Attorney and concurrence of the City Council; and The City Treasurer requests permission to destroy such records; and The City Attorney of the City of Huntington Beach hereby consents to the destruction of such records, NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that approval is hereby given for the destruction of records as listed on EXHIBIT "A,"which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference. Notwithstanding any of the foregoing,no record shall be destroyed which is expressly required to be retained under California Government Code Section 34090.
