Mr. Robert Galloway addressed Council and requested that -t,3000.00
be deducted from the Park and Recreation Fees due on Tract 6650,
as such construction would be for park improvement.
Mr. Hollingshead, Building Co-ordinator of Ocean View School. District
addressed Council and informed therm that there will be a need to
levy taxes for school bus service if the pedestrian foot bridge is
not constructed . Mr. Hollingshead stated that School District funds
could not be used for this purpose.
A motion was made by Kaufman to deny the appeal with conditions to
remain as designated by Planning Commission. Notion failed.
On motion by Matney, Council authorized the City and developer
participate in the pedestrian foot bridge in Tract 6650, mi a
50-50 basid , with the City's share to be paid from the Parks and
Recreation Fund, when funds become. available. The motion was
approved by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Shipley, Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman, Matney,
Green, Coen

APPOI�]MENT - DEPUTY CITY CLERK
The Clerk presented ,a communication to the Council
from his office requesting that they, by minute action, approve
the appointment of Mrs . Connie Brockway as Deputy City Clerk to
become effective June 1.7, 1968.
On motion by Green, Council approved the appointment of
Mrs. Connie Brockway as Deputy City Clerk, to become effective
June 17, 1968. Motion carried.

The Clerk presented a conmunication from the County of Orange,
Department of Real Property Services, transmitting a Contract to
purchase Refuse Site No. 14, Parcels I & 3, located north of Taylor
and west of Goldenule8t, for an amount of $16,500.00.
On motion by Green, Council approved the purchase of Refuse
Disposal Site No. 14 from the County of Orange, and authorized
the Mayor and City Clerk to execute said contract on behalf oaf 'the
City, by the following roll call vote:
AYES- Councilmen.- Shipley, Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman, Matneyr
Green, Coen

The Clerk presented a transmittal from the Planning Director submit-
ting final form of Tract Map 64-94 for adoption as follows .- Developer:
Hotel Kingsway Operating Company; Location : 712 feet east of Beach
Boulevard, ad acent to San Diego Freeway on the north; Acreage: 5.048;
Lots : 13 ; that the map had been certified by the Director df Public
Works and the Secretary to the Planning Commission to be true and
correct in accordance with provision of the city subdivision Code,
The City Council may accept dedications as shown on the map and approve
the Final Map, subject to the following conditions:

On motion by Kaufman, Council directed the City Attorney to prepare a
Resolution approving LTV 68-12, with conditions as stipulated by the
P lanqin- g Commission, Motion carried.
CODE AME.MtMENT No 68-4 - -TRAILER. PARKS
The Clerk presented a transmittal from the Planning Department of
Code Amendment No. 68-4, an amendment to Division 9 of the Huntington
Beach Ordinance Code proposing to allow h-mre bccupations in trailer
parks . The Planning Comission recommended approval.
On motion by Kaufman, Council approved Code Amendment No. 68-4, and
directed the City Attorney to prepare an Ordinance amending the
Huntington Beach Ordinance Code,. Motion carried,

On motion by Kaufman, Council approved Code Amendment No. 68-5, and tv-
directed the City Attorney to prepare an Ordinance air-ending the
Huntington Beach Ordinance Code . Notion carried .
P C REPORT - BUILDING AT 201 MAIE_-STREET-
The Clerk presented a comunication from the Planning Cominission
recommending approval of the remodeling of the existing structure
at 201 Main Street, and also a recommendation that the Council
consider parking deficiencies in the downtown area and provide an
incentive for future development.
Mr. an Gillis , owner of the subject building; addressed the Council
and requested Council 's approval of the proposed plans presented to
the Planning Commission and the Council, and not just the remodeling
of the existing building.
On motion by McCracken, Council approved the alterations and additions
to the building at 201. Main Street, subject to the applicaht
obtaining a Use Variance with fees therefor being waived,, and with
the condition that the applicant cooperate in the formation of a
parking district. Motion carried.
PARKING DISTRICT.
On motion by Bartlett, Council directed the Planning Commission and
staff to study the pdssibility of a parking district in the downtown
area and make a report to the Council on same . Motion carried.

VARIANCE APPLICATION - POLICY STATEMENT
The Clerk presented a request from, the Planning Commission that
Council set a deadline of June 1st, after which no further consider-
ation would be given to subdividers ' variances on tentative tracts
whieb comply with the previously adopted policy statement.
Mr. Dale Dunn, manager of the Chamber ,of Commerce, addressed the
Council and requested the present policy statement remain in effect
until the new Subdivision Ordinance becomes effective.
On motion by Kaufman, Council directed that the present policy be
continued until such time as the city enacts a new Subdivision
Ordinance. Motion carried.

The Clerk presented Arterial Highway Financing -Agreements #433
for the widening of Goldenwest Street from Pacific Coast Highway to
Warner Avenue, and Jk435 for the widening of Springdale Street from
Heil Avenue to Warner Avenue .
On motion by Kaufman, Council approved the two Arterial. Highway_
Financing Agreements , and authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to
execute said Agreements . Motion carried.

Gentlemen:
Transmitted herewith is a proposed amendment to Division 9
of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code. Said amendment
proposes to change the filing fee to $10.00 and amend the
public hearing procedure for Site Plan applications .
The Planning Commission unanimously approved this matter
on May 7, 1968, and recommends adoption by your Honorable
Body.
