SUBJECT: DIRECT STAFF TO REASSESS BLUFF TOP GUARD RAIL OPTION
BACKGROUND
On December 16, 2019, the City Council voted to approve a wood lodge pole guardrail design as part of
the Bluff Top Improvement Project. As part of the decision, the City Council also asked that staff
consider design options for the wood lodge pole that would result in a cleaner, straight-line visual look.

Subsequent to that decision, new information was recently presented to the City at our January 21,

Notes
New wood fence being considered for beach! I noticed in the news you are considering a new wood fence between the beach
and PCH. Please make this decision wisely. This area is one of the few drives along PCH that has views of our beautiful
ocean. The current railing seems rather non-intrusive to this view. The one that was shown seems very cumbersome and not
appealing.Although I realize a cost analyst came into play, I would hope we could not be too worried about the costs when it
comes to our beach and the hundred plus years it will probably have to remain there. At the very least, I would hope you
would consider asking for a mock up south of Golden West or even a virtual one is better than nothing. Please consider other
options for this area.Thank you for your time and your service to our community. Thank you for representing us in this
decision and please try to consider all the consequences. Thank you, Patti Junginger
