To: HB City Council Members
Regarding Magnolia Tank Farm(Item 36), and Mayors Appointments (Item 10) on the
Agenda
Honorable Mayor Semeta and Councilmembers,
First, I hope you approve the appointments of Council members Carr and Hardy as
Liaisons to the 2020 Environmental Board(Item 10).As a board member I look forward
to working with them for the upcoming year.
Next,Item 36 addresses the Magnolia Tank Farm. As a citizen,I am glad to see that no
vote will take place today that changes the zoning for that property, and that it is still up
for Environmental Review. That property and the whole adjoining area need thorough
review before a final vote because of the many proposed projects that will affect the area.
We must look at the enormity of all the projects because they will impact the fragile
wetlands, the adjoining neighborhoods, the ocean, and local traffic conditions. The
Shopoff Proposal, the"future"clean ASCON site, and the impending Poseidon Project
will forever shape South East Huntington Beach and we should only proceed with a vote
on the Tank Farm after looking at ALL projects in their entirety and looking at how they
will forever affect Huntington Beach.
Thank you for all you do,and for taking the time to read this letter.
Sincerely Yours,
KC Fockler
