HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2020-68 RESOLUTION NO. 2020-68 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CLOSING OF MAIN STREET AND 51h STREET TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC FOR CERTAIN SPECIAL EVENTS WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach hosts several special events and related activities to promote tourism in the City; and These special events and related activities sometimes occur on Main Street and 51h Street in the downtown area; and These special events and related activities sometimes draw large crowds which create pedestrian and vehicle congestion; and In order to promote public safety, the City Council has determined that the closure of portions of Main Street and 5th Street during the special events listed below is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who might use said streets, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as follows: 1. Approve the temporary closure of portions of Main & 5th Street during the following special events: Date Special Event March 20, 2021 Wavecrest Beach Cruiser Meet April 24, 2021 California Cruise In June 19, 2021 Chili at the Beach July 3, 2021 4th of July Block Party August 5, 2021 Surfing Walk of Fame Induction September 18-19, 2021 Surf City Days October 1-3, 2021 HB Air Show Displays October 31, 2021 Halloween Activities December 5, 2021 Light a Light of Love 20-8944/235427 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2020-68 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of November , 2020. avor I WED PPROVED: APPROVED AS TO FORM: In � , U.
