CITY COUNCIL MEETING—COUNCIL MEMBER ITEMS REPORT
TO: THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: KIM CARR, MAYOR
DATE: JAN UARY 19, 2021
SUBJECT: CONSIDER CHANGING CITY COUNCIL MEETING DAYS TO THE FIRST AND THIRD
TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH
BACKGROUND
Currently, the City Council meets on the first and third Monday of each month. In an effort to
provide an additional day for City Council members, staff, and the public to review and respond
to questions regarding items on the agenda, I propose that we consider changing City Council
meeting days to the first and third Tuesday of each month. Further, I would concurrently suggest
that we continue to adhere to all of our existing agenda publication timelines, whereby the City
Council meeting agenda would be posted by the Wednesday prior to our City Council meeting
days.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
I recommend that the City Council direct the City Manager to develop and bring back for formal
City Council review the protocols and procedures necessary to change our City Council meeting
days to the first and third Tuesday of each month.

My Dear Madam Mayoress,
I am writing to express my concerns with Item XXII,the proposal to change the Huntington Beach City
Council's meetings to Tuesday
While I do not object to discussion of this idea, I feel that given that this item affects the ability of the
public to attend meetings and observe them, it should be postponed until oratory and observation are
allowed in the chamber.
I personally plan to continue attending the meetings regularly once it is permitted, regardless of the date.
Thank you for considering my thoughts on this matter. I urge the Huntington Beach City Council to
consider postponing definitely this item to address these issues.
Sincerely Yours,
Mr.Amory Hanson

The first and third tuesdays do not present a scheduling conflict for me, and I look forward to once again attending the
