Clean-up efforts stopped since June 2019
ASCON is pursuing tenting/enclosure permits and work plan approval prior
to continuing remediation work
Site Maintenance will continue including: Weed Abatement, vector control
inspections, Stormwater management measures, dust control measures,
and application of soil sealant.
Continued Air monitoring and sampling of on-site and off-site stations with
results posted on DTSC's Enviorstor and on AsconHB.org.
Continue 24 houronsite security.

Odor Assessment Field Investigation
Ascon Landfill Site

The Department of Toxic Substances Control(DTSC)has approved a site-wide odor assessment at the Ascon
Landfill Site The purpose of the assessment is to identify areas of the Site that may have the potential to
generate odor during future cleanup work at Ascon The assessment work will begin in mid-January 2021 and
vnll consist of collecting and analyzing soil and soil vapor samples in the areas of the Site that are planned for
future excavation.
The onsite and oftsite air monitoring,since January 2019, has shown that air quality data has been below

INVESTIGATION
Establish a grid on the site and collect soil vapor
samples over future excavation areas.
► Conduct soil vapor analysis to identify areas with the
potential to generate odor during future cleanup
work
► Develop best management practices to minimize
odor during future remediation
► Anticipated to take 3 months to perform.
Technical Advisor
► A third party technical advisor is available to the
community to help review the technical aspects of the
environmental cleanup.
