Agenda Item 9 (23-275) I would like to thank Chris Slama for all he has done for the City of Huntington Beach. This man has spent his entire professional life in service for the City of Huntington Beach. You don't just go out and hire another Chris Slama. He knows where all the bones are buried. He knows how this City and it's government work and he still manage to get many things done. In my little downtown neighborhood he was instrumental is helping the community get the dilapidated old Rodgers Senior Center transformed it a to wonderful neighborhood park in congested downtown HB. With little or no backyards in this area of the city we now have some green space. Much better than the mostly asphalt parking lot! To the City Council please take note that Chris Slama and other City employees leaving should be a major red flag that you are not doing your job and retaining key personnel like Chris Slama. You need to get into the weeds on this movement of employees leaving this fine city! First by taking a look in the mirror. Why is the city staff short personnel? Why is the police force short personnel? You need to pay people and treat them right if you are going to stop this trend. Wake up and concentrate on retaining personnel and the budget that is need to do this. You are spending way too much time on wedge issues like Flag right, campaign contributions, fighting Sacramento, etc. Thanks again to the once in a lifetime Chris Slama! Chris Varga HB Downtown Resident. SUPPLEMENTAL COMMUNICATION Meeting Date: 3/ /20?3 Agenda Item No.; ( 3 - a Fs)
