HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2024-19 RESOLUTION 2024-19 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ADOPTING SEWER SERVICE USER CHARGES, PURSUANT TO SECTION 14.54.040 OF THE HUNTINGTON BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE WHEREAS, Section 14.54.040 authorizes the City to adopt a Sewer Service User Charge; and, WHEREAS,the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2019-30 on June 3, 2019 setting the Sewer Service User charge for the City's customers; and, Pursuant to Huntington Beach Municipal Code Section 14.54.020, the City Council shall adjust the Sewer Service Charge in order to maintain a balanced budget; and, Pursuant to Proposition 218 and Government Code Sections 53755 and 53756, an agency providing sewer service may adopt a schedule of adjustments to sewer rates for up to five (5) years; and, The City Council desires to establish Sewer Service User Charges pursuant to Section 14.54.040 of the Municipal Code for the next five years, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that Resolution 2019-30 is replaced and the following Sewer Service User Charges are adopted: 1. Sewer Service User Charges. Effective July 1, 2024 up to and including June 30, 2029, Sewer Service User Charges shall be as follows: Customer Class July 1, July 1, July 1, July 1, July 1, 2024 2025 2026 2027. 2028 Single-Family $11.90 $13.32 $14.66 $16.12 $17.73 Residential (SFR) Multi-Family $8.76 $9.81 $10.79 $11.87 $13.05 Residential (MFR) per EDU Commercial, Industrial, $22.07 $24.71 $27.19 $29.90 $32.89 Institutional (CII) per EDU K-8 (per Average Daily $2.37 $2.66 $2.92 $3.21 $3.53 Attendance) High School (per $3.56 $3.98 $4.38 $4.82 $5.30 Average Daily Attendance) • .EDU=Equivalent Dwelling Units. EDU refers to the number of multifamily residential units or commercial/industrial units connected to the water meter. RESOLUTION NO. 2024-19 2. Implementation of Sewer Service User Charge Adjustments. Adjustments based on these criteria will be determined beginning July 1, 2024, and continuing each July 1, including July 2028. Notice of any adjustment to the Water Commodity Rate shall be provided by way of an insert in the monthly municipal bill beginning June 1 of each year.
